Job Summary

This is a one year limited term academic year appointment. This position will instruct academic courses and support the department, college and university goals by supporting the academic environment to benefit the educational mission of the University.

The faculty employee is expected to contribute to the department''s educational mission. Faculty will be expected to instruct our students in the respective disciplines at the undergraduate level.

The faculty employee is expected to have:

  • Understanding of the principles associated with teaching and learning
  • Strong communication skills and successful higher education teaching experience
  • A developing research agenda
  • Demonstrable ability to teach Survey of Philosophy or Introduction to World Religions
  • Demonstrable ability to design creative, interdisciplinary courses that incorporate primary texts and engage students in the classroom
  • Demonstrable ability to teach writing and discussion intensive classes
  • Demonstrable ability to incorporate different perspectives in a domestic and global context
  • To apply please submit a Cover Letter, CV including the names of at least 3 references, a sample syllabus for Survey of Philosophy or Introduction to World Religions, evidence of excellence in teaching such as teaching evaluations from a course for which the candidate was the primary instructor, and unofficial transcripts.

    This position carries a non tenure track status.

    Responsibilities

    Teaching Responsibilities:

    • Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline
    • Regular course meetings and instruction
    • Mentoring Students
    • Other teaching responsibilities

    Knowledge and ability to convey current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.

    Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All…
