Job Description:

Columbus Technical College is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a part-time Instructional Aide in the Culinary Arts Department. The Instructional Aide will support faculty by assisting with the delivery of instruction and hands‑on training for students enrolled in the Culinary Arts program. This position helps maintain a productive learning environment by preparing instructional materials, assisting with laboratory and kitchen activities, monitoring student progress during practical exercises, maintaining equipment and work areas, and providing general support to instructors to enhance student learning and success.

This position is part‑time/non‑exempt.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist instructors with classroom instruction, demonstrations, and presentations
  • Support instructors in maintaining a positive, safe, and effective learning environment
  • Assist with documenting and monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate instructional records
  • Perform a variety of clerical and administrative tasks in support of instructional activities
  • Prepare instructional materials, demonstrations, laboratory exercises, equipment, and exhibits for classroom and kitchen labs
  • Maintain inventory and request classroom and laboratory supplies, materials, and equipment as needed
  • Provide individual and small‑group tutoring to reinforce classroom and laboratory instruction
  • Assist students and instructors during hands‑on laboratory and kitchen activities in the Culinary Arts program
  • Ensure lab and kitchen areas are organized, clean, and maintained in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and cleanup of culinary labs and instructional activities
  • Support faculty with course management responsibilities, including Blackboard updates, calendars, grade entry, announcements, and other instructional technology tasks
  • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills while interacting with students, faculty, staff, and community partners
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with institutional policies
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Diploma or Technical Certificate in Culinary Arts or a closely related culinary field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of six (6) months of recent work experience in the culinary industry
  • Experience assisting with food preparation, commercial kitchen operations, or culinary instruction
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, including Serv Safe® principles
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced instructional kitchen environment while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and safety
Salary/Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
