Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a part-time adjunct instructor for mathematics. Under general supervision, this individual will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction; evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes; academically advise students; attend faculty development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences as needed. Further requirements include assisting with recruitment, retention, job placement efforts, and sustaining a credible advisory board for the program.
This position is on campus and requires day and evening instruction. This position is part-time/ exempt. Please note the following information regarding this position:
- May be required to teach high school students
- May require occasional weekends
- May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)
- May require travel
- Organizes and conducts classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities
- Ensures adherence to technical college safety requirements in classrooms by following established procedures
- Evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives
- Follows state standards in developing course outlines, goals, and objectives
- Ensure consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate course work
- Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward students
- Demonstrates current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas to be taught
- Communicates students’ progress to students and appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines
- Accurately records pertinent information in students’ records as required
- Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports and submits in a timely manner
- Shows flexibility in response to process change and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures
- Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late for when or when absent; uses work time appropriately
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature
- Effective written and oral communication
- General Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Products)
- Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Columbus Technical College
- A Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in mathematics
-OR- A Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a concentration a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in mathematics
- Experience with instruction in a postsecondary setting and experience with learning management systems.
- Experience with analyzing student learning outcomes and course data.
