Powerplant Engineer provides engineering support to the Operations, Material, Finance and Customer Service teams to ensure technical questions are addressed. You will work closely with Pratt & Whitney engineering teams onsite and at other locations around the country.
Role
:
As a Powerplant Engineer you will be responsible for managing engine workscope, including level of assembly/disassembly/repair of GTF commercial engines. You will be the primary engineering interface to the End-User/Customer and work with the Customer Service Managers to ensure all technical issues are resolved during a shop visit. Primary tasks include authoring aircraft engine repair works scopes and providing a technical advisory role in disassembly, repair, assembly, and testing of the GTF product line.
You may lead or support process improvement projects.
- Receive and understand the Shop Maintenance Instructions (SMI) document for each shop visit assigned.
- Author/load aircraft engine repair workscope into SAP.
- Provide timely responses to Customer and Engineering technical questions (IPFs).
- Collaborate with Process/Production Engineers to execute workscope and work instructions for engine repairs (Service Bulletins, ADs, performance restoration and modification requirements).
- Research, support and advise other functional areas regarding technical issues related to quality, operations processes, materials and customer support.
- Seek opportunities to reduce costs and improve quality and efficiency using new materials, processes or technology.
- Assist with implementation of new materials, processes, tools or technology.
- Assist in training mechanics, inspectors and others on various technical issues.
- Demonstrate commitment to EH&S and continuous improvement by complying with policies and training, and supporting committee activities.
- Participate in failure investigations and problem resolution boards.
- Be a source of in-depth technical knowledge on the repair and test of the GTF engine.
- Manage the shop visit to ensure all gate requirements are met in accordance with the Operations Network cadence.
- Ensure each shop visit workscope is generated in accordance with Engine Maintenance Plan (EMP) / Customized Engine Maintenance Plan (CEMP) documents.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or another STEM field and 5 years of relevant experience (manufacturing operations or production engineering), or an advanced degree with at least 2 years of related experience.
- Experience reading and/or interpreting technical data or engine manuals.
- Prior FAR
145 shop experience - GTF product knowledge
- Knowledge of leadership operating model (LOM) tools
- Experience managing projects or leading a team
This role is onsite. Onsite roles require working primarily at the assigned site. Information about role type and site status will be provided during the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting is the employee’s personal responsibility.
Salary range: 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The range is a good faith estimate and may be influenced by experience, location, education, and skills. RTX offers benefits and incentive programs which vary by business unit and may be affected by collective-bargaining agreements.
This role is a U.S.
