- Wage: $70,000 - $110,000 / Year salary, benefits, incentive plan, relocation assistance. Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.

Description:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager in Georgia reports to the Plant Manager and provides leadership and strategic direction by building a partnership with front‑line leadership and collaborating with business partners to develop and mentor the production team relating to EH&S. In this role, you will examine and audit existing working conditions, equipment, processes, and systems to determine points of potential hazard and opportunities for better safety practices.
You will develop and implement safe working processes, educating all levels of staff on best practices. Our ideal candidate has at least a bachelor's degree in occupational safety, engineering, or a relevant field. You must also have excellent communication and leadership skills and a thorough understanding of industry regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in industrial safety with knowledge of environmental compliance, or similar is desired.
- Five (5+) plus years of safety experience in an industrial, military, or manufacturing process environment. Wood Products industry experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and ability to comprehend and apply government safety rules, including OSHA protocols, to a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with SOP and JHA development.
- Experience with establishing LOTO programs into an industrial environment.
- Experience with and implementing process safety programs.
- Capable of facility safety and environmental audits, root‑cause analyses, and group problem solving.
- Capable of effectively influencing front‑line management to enact safety programming / processes to achieve an accident‑free environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct general EHS observations (e.g., guarding audits, Lockout audits, Safe Work Practices, etc.).
- Confirm that systems and policies are in place, being adhered to, and are functioning properly.
- Develop and drive needed cultural and behavioral change to support improvement.
- Evaluate safety and health systems perpetually to ensure they remain current and thorough.
- Identify Mill Safety and Health program needs and prepare written safety and health programs to support.
- Identify Mill training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs.
- Identify opportunities and support implementation of engineering controls to minimize/eliminate safety, health, and environmental hazards.
- Lead by example, lead with integrity, hold self and all employees accountable for working safely, ensure consistency in actions and results, and continually drive for results.
- Manage Safety & Environmental record‑keeping and reporting (state, federal, and internal).
- Participate in development, implementation, and support of Mill policies and systems.
- Participate in or lead process reviews (e.g., hazard analyses, operator training, Lockout, New Hire, etc.).
- Support plant leadership as an invaluable training and support resource.
- Maintain working knowledge of record‑keeping & reporting requirements (OSHA, EPA, GA.EPD, Worker’s Comp).
