Major Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include overseeing all ice-rink operations; managing a team of full-time and part-time staff; monitoring the building systems and ice surfacing schedule; ensuring the overall safety and security of the rink; scheduling and managing the Ice Rink tenants and rental groups such as bookings for birthday parties and other special events; and overseeing the Skate Rental Shop. This role includes assigning shifts to ensure coverage during all hours of operation and all other duties as assigned by the Civic Center Event Services Manager.

This role will work closely with the Event Services Manager in order to provide the best customer experience with a focus on providing a fun, safe, and clean environment.

  • Greet and fit guests with ice skating equipment.
  • Collect payment for rental ice-skating equipment.
  • Assist with all inquiries pertaining to the ice rink and resort located within.
  • Answer telephone and answer any and all inquiries.
  • Maintain and manage various projects.
  • Be proactive in the design and implementation of systems to complete the projects.
  • Submit monthly schedules.
  • Enforce ice rink policies, as needed, following ice rink protocol.
  • Take inventory on ice rink equipment as needed. Ensure clean and maintained ice rink property such as skates, ice cleats, skater aids, and back office.
  • Respond promptly to all email and voicemail correspondence.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all contacts, always being helpful and courteous.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the operation of modern office equipment and computers.
  • Knowledge of Lotus Notes software.
  • Skill in problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment including computers and financial management software programs.

Minimum Education al And Training Requirements

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
