AVP, Ventures Strategic Investment Manager
Location: Columbus, GA
Job Summary Manages strategic investment activities, including sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and executing investments in ventures or funds aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. Responsible for conducting due diligence, market research, financial modeling, and preparing investment recommendations. Works closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to identify new opportunities and manage existing portfolio companies. Leads the negotiation of investment terms and conditions, ensuring favorable outcomes for the company.
Monitors the performance of portfolio companies, providing guidance and support to enhance their growth and success. Stays abreast of market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform investment strategies. Represents the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to build relationships and identify potential investment opportunities. Develops and maintains strong relationships with venture capital firms, accelerators, startups, and other key players in the venture ecosystem.
Mentors and develops junior investment professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Responsibilities
Sourcing and evaluating potential strategic investment opportunities, including startups, venture funds, and other innovative companies.Conducting comprehensive due diligence, market research, and financial analysis to assess the viability and potential returns of investment opportunities.Developing detailed investment recommendations and presentations for senior management and investment committees.Negotiating investment terms and conditions, including deal structure, valuation, and legal documentation.Managing and monitoring the performance of portfolio companies, providing strategic guidance and support to help them achieve their growth objectives.Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and the broader venture capital ecosystem.Staying informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies relevant to the company’s strategic interests.Representing the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.Mentoring and developing junior investment professionals.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. MBA or CFA designation preferred.10+ years of experience in venture capital, corporate venture capital, private equity, or strategic investments.Proven track record of sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and executing successful investments.Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Deep understanding of the venture capital ecosystem, including market trends, key players, and emerging technologies.Strong network within the venture capital and startup communities.Experience in the insurance, healthcare, or financial services technology sectors is a plus.Additional Information
