HR, Safety and Environmental Manager

• Responsible for a wide range of HR functions, including payroll administration, benefits management, employee relations, training and development, performance management, onboarding, policy creation and implementation, recruitment, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations—such as FMLA and ADA requirements—is consistently maintained. The position also oversees the communication and administration of company benefits, including leading annual open enrollment meetings.
• HRIS management through Paylocity is a key component of the role, encompassing recruitment workflows, payroll updates, and full payroll processing. Additionally, this position serves as a resource for conflict resolution, offering coaching and guidance to employees facing personal or workplace challenges.
• This role is accountable for developing, implementing, and sustaining safety, environmental, health, and risk management programs, policies, and procedures. It ensures full compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including MSHA, EPD, and DNR requirements. The position conducts thorough investigations of all safety and environmental incidents, completing root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
• Incident data is reviewed to identify patterns and trends, with corrective measures designed and applied as needed. All safety, environmental, health, and claims documentation is consolidated, maintained, and kept current. The role also develops programs, procedures, and training initiatives that protect employees, company assets, and overall business operations. Participation in safety and environmental meetings and training sessions is provided as required.

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in HR or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; 5 years hands‑on experience with Safety/Environmental responsibilities preferably in the mining industry.
• Strong HR acumen and leadership skills
• Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices
• Strong knowledge of regulations relating to Occupational Health and Safety/Environmental (MSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, etc.)
• Proficiency with HRIS systems, preferably Paylocity
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral/written)
