SUMMARY:Performs technical and administrative work in support of the CWW Recruitment Program and Employee Services Department. Responsibilities include recruitment and hiring, internal promotions, community outreach, onboarding and new employee orientation, maintenance of job descriptions and confidential personnel records, personnel actions, HRIS support, employee inquiries, reporting and research, and coordination of Employee Services programs. Work involves handling highly confidential and sensitive information, requiring a high degree of discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism.
Directly supports Columbus Water Works Vision, Mission and Strategic Initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES includes the following: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Responsible for coordinating the organization’s recruitment program, including reviewing and processing employment applications, tracking applicant flow and affirmative action data, maintaining applicant records, responding to applicant inquiries, and conducting initial candidate screenings to assess qualifications against job requirements.
- Partners with hiring managers throughout the recruitment and selection process to identify staffing needs, recruit, screen, interview, and select qualified candidates for vacant positions. Ensures recruitment activities support organizational human resources programs and comply with equal employment opportunity and career development initiatives.
- Coordinates and conducts pre-employment screenings, including background checks, MVR reviews, credit checks, physicals, reference checks, and employment verification. Reviews screening results and makes hiring eligibility recommendations; conducts new employee benefits and enrollment orientations and prepares employment-related correspondence.
- Maintains recruitment, turnover, temporary staffing, and required statistical reports; compiles and analyzes workforce data to support benchmarking and strategic performance measures.
- Builds and maintains relationships with external recruiting partners and community organizations to attract qualified candidates, including career fairs, educational institutions, the Department of Labor, Goodwill Career Centers, Georgia JobTIPS, and Fort Moore’s Transition Assistance Program.
- Coordinates employee resignations and terminations with managers and supervisors, ensuring completion of disciplinary documentation, Payroll Status Reports, out-processing, Georgia Department of Labor requirements, company property recovery, and pension administrator notifications.
- Maintain I-9 verification files and quarterly audits to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining new employee orientation materials and agendas; schedules, coordinates, and facilitates orientation sessions.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive employee, applicant, and organizational information in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and established procedures.
- Provides verification of employment as appropriate.
- Provides additional support in maintenance of the HRIS system and related files in the update of employee records to reflect changes in personnel data, compensation, benefits, performance reviews, new hire data, termination date and reasons, and training records
- Creates documents for training, presentations, or company distribution.
- Assists in administrative support in the implementation of various programs and projects in relation to human resource functions, such as Wellness Program, Safety and Workers' Compensation Program, Health and Benefits Fair, etc.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES:
None. Work is performed under limited supervision. Incumbent must be able to exercise independent judgment and initiative in making decisions.
