Our client is hiring a Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function for a large, multi-shift, unionized manufacturing facility in Columbus, Georgia
.

This is the top HR position at the plant and offers a seat alongside site leadership. You will have direct influence over labor strategy, workforce stability, supervisor effectiveness, employee engagement, and the overall working environment. The position is ideal for an HR leader who enjoys being visible throughout the operation and handling both strategic priorities and complex employee matters.

Position Focus
  • Direct plant HR activities covering employee relations, recruiting, performance management, staffing, and talent development.
  • Counsel managers on workplace investigations, corrective action, conflict resolution, employment practices, and policy application.
  • Administer and interpret the collective bargaining agreement, manage grievances, prepare for arbitration, and assist with labor negotiations.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with union representatives and address concerns before they affect the operation.
  • Oversee hourly hiring, job-bid processes, headcount planning, and workforce forecasting.
  • Develop frontline supervisors through coaching, training, succession planning, and individual development efforts.
  • Analyze staffing, retention, attendance, and employee-relations trends to identify risks and recommend action.
  • Lead HR initiatives supporting organizational change, continuous improvement, recognition, and employee engagement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Progressive HR leadership experience within a manufacturing facility.
  • Several years of direct responsibility for a unionized workforce.
  • Strong knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, grievances, investigations, labor law, and union-management relations.
  • Experience with workforce planning, leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Ability to support employees and leaders across a multi-shift operation, including adjusting hours when necessary.

Experience with Workday, labor negotiations, consumer-product manufacturing, Lean operations, or continuous improvement is helpful. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is also valued.
