Work Designation
  • If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.
  • If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

What does it take to be successful in this role?
  • Demonstrated experience coaching Agile and Lean teams in complex delivery environments
  • Strong command of flow metrics and delivery data to enable evidence-based improvement
  • Deep understanding of Scrum and Kanban, with experience in scaled approaches (LeSS or Nexus preferred)
  • Ability to coach teams and leaders using metrics, feedback loops, and practical experimentation
  • Experience supporting broader engineering practices across QA, Dev Ops, and Application Support
  • Proven ability to operate at a system level, identifying patterns, dependencies, and systemic constraints
  • Comfortable leading organizational change and evolving ways of working over time
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and communication skills across teams, leaders, and communities
  • Able to translate delivery data into clear insights that influence decisions and behaviours
Education & Experience Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer science, Information Systems, or business administration or related field
  • Eight or more years of experience in software product or application development, business analysis or project management
  • Four or more years of experience as a Scrum Master
  • Experience working as a Scrum Master on at least three different agile teams

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education & Experience Preferred
  • Certification ICAgile Certified Professional – Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC) LeSS Practitioner
Principal

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coach teams on Agile/Lean frameworks, practices and processes (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
  • Guide Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and team members in their respective roles
  • Focused on value delivery and alignment to business goals
  • Support Engineering Excellence (QA, Dev Ops, App Support) initiatives
  • Onboarding/upskilling new teams to follow our agile ways of working
  • Develop, Refine and Document Agile practices/processes
  • Identify and address impediments to agile adoption and implementation
  • Define and refine metrics for Digital Services and promote the use of metrics and feedback to drive improvements in team performance
  • Provide guidance on Agile tooling to enhance productivity and transparency
  • Facilitate area/organization wide discussions/workshops as needed
  • Play a leading role in establishing ways of working for multi-team initiatives
  • Liaise between development teams and leadership to resolve organization wide impediments
  • Develop and deliver Agile/Lean training and workshops
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement for our people
  • Facilitate learning and development at our Communities of Practice
  • Keep up to date and share industry-wide trends and advancements
  • Become an expert in a particular topic e.g. Scaling, Flow, Process, Tooling etc.
  • Proactively promote changes to our agile ways of working and tooling
  • Communicate changes through appropriate channels
  • Curate content to guide our community
  • Plan a rollout approach
