Position Overview

Program Manager – Autism Supports / Program for Exceptional Students

Location:

Executive Director of the Program for Exceptional Students

Primary Function

The Program Manager coordinates specialized autism programming, oversees the implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies, and ensures compliance with district and federal special education policies. The role includes monitoring staffing and budgets, managing legal and due process matters, providing staff training and mentorship, and collaborating with principals, teachers, support personnel, district staff, BCBAs, parents, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Design, evaluate, and support specialized ABA‑based autism support programs across multiple school sites.
  • Train and supervise special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and district staff on evidence‑based ABA strategies.
  • Facilitate high‑quality individualized services for students ages 3‑22 with autism spectrum disorder and related disabilities across various school environments.
  • Develop, oversee, and implement programmatic systems for data collection, graphing, and progress monitoring, and support staff in data‑driven program refinement.
  • Maintain consistent oversight of Behavioral Intervention Plans and ensure communication of implementation standards to teachers and administrators.
  • Ensure professional behavior, including the use of appropriate teaching, communication, and reinforcement techniques.
  • Supervise implementation of inclusionary best practices and develop data‑driven transition plans to support placement in the least restrictive environment.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration, serving as liaison among the district, families, private therapists, and state agencies.
  • Schedule district office coverage for student assignments, parent conferences, and required meetings.
  • Manage and investigate parent complaints, coordinate corrective actions, and enforce due process requirements.
  • Monitor timelines, staffing, inventory, and reporting data for legal compliance.
  • Participate in mandatory leadership meetings to stay informed about regulations, policies, and district initiatives.
  • Assist personnel to achieve standards and maximize performance.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality educational programming through IEPs and annual reviews.
  • Participate in conferences and training to acquire and convey job‑related knowledge.
  • Oversee transportation service needs, ensuring safety and compliance for students requiring special services.
  • Supervise crisis management procedures, maintaining safe environments for students and staff.
  • Review IEPs to ensure appropriate services, supports, and supplementary aides align with legal requirements.
  • Monitor and track academic progress for students with disabilities, collaborating with schools and leadership to communicate data insights.
  • Maintain daily attendance and punctuality to meet unit goals.
  • Serve on improvement review committees and teams to enhance outcomes for students with disabilities.
Requirements
  • Educational Level: Master’s degree or higher in Special Education or related area from an accredited institution.
  • Certification/License: Certification in Educational Leadership;
    Georgia certification in Exceptional Student Education (preferred). Additional training in restraint and a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience: Minimum three years of teaching experience in Exceptional Student Education, with expertise in moderate to severe autism spectrum disorder and significant interfering problem behaviors. Proven implementation of skill acquisition programs and function‑based behavior support plans. Proficiency in ABA methodologies, teaching techniques, communication, organization, and time management. Understanding of child development and curriculum across grade levels.
