FLSA Status: Exempt (or Non-Exempt, depending on final leveling)
Position OverviewThe Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery. This role directly supervises hourly production employees, enforces standard work, drives accountability, and partners closely with Materials, Staging, Quality, and Maintenance to ensure smooth execution.
This is a hands‑on, floor‑focused leadership role requiring strong people management, operational discipline, and the ability to manage priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Production Execution- Supervise day‑to‑day production activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets
- Execute the daily production schedule and adjust staffing and priorities as needed
- Ensure production orders are completed accurately and on time
- Identify and elevate production issues, bottlenecks, or material shortages
- Lead, train, coach, and develop hourly production employees
- Conduct daily shift meetings and communicate priorities, safety topics, and performance expectations
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance; address issues through coaching and corrective action as needed
- Partner with HR on performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee relations matters
- Enforce all safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and quality requirements
- Support audits and inspections (FDA, ISO, GMP, customer audits as applicable)
- Investigate and respond to safety incidents, quality defects, and near misses
- Track and report production metrics (output, scrap, rework, downtime)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput
- Partner with Maintenance to address equipment issues and minimize downtime
- Collaborate with Materials, Staging, and Distribution to ensure proper material flow
- High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- 3–5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience leading hourly production teams
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, and production processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Comfortable being on the production floor for the majority of the shift
- Experience in regulated manufacturing (medical, aerospace, automotive, food, etc.)
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, etc.)
- Lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement exposure
- Experience working cross‑functionally with materials, quality, and maintenance
