What You Will Do

Columbus Forge, a recognized leader in producing air foils and disks for the aerospace propulsion market, is looking for dedicated individuals to support our organization.   • Perform a wide variety of the more complex work within a manufacturing area including set-up and operation of multiple machines and processes, meaningful assistance in the maintenance/tool services area, and significant participation in team administration.
  • Comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Set up, operate, or tend presses and forging machines to taper, shape, or form metal.
  • Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure conformance to product specifications.
  • Read work orders or blueprints to determine specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup.
  • Position and move work pieces through a series of dies that compress and shape stock to form die impressions.
  • Start machines to produce sample work pieces, observe operations to detect malfunctions and verify that machine setups conform to specifications.
  • Remove dies from machines when production runs are finished; adjust pressures and depths of ram strokes and synchronize machine operations.
  • Set up positioning fixtures, stops and specified dies to rams and anvils, forging rolls, or presses and hammers.
  • Trim and compress finished forgings to specified tolerances; measure thickness and concentricity; read forge blueprints.
  • Build heat-treat load per work instruction and load/unload furnace; calculate time in furnace requirements and understand load diagrams and instructions.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 months manufacturing experience
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts

  • Some vocational technical school experience preferred

  • Creative troubleshooting skills
  • Possess excellent judgement and professional maturity
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and quality procedures
