Job Summary
Join Pratt & Whitney at our Columbus Engine Center, where precision meets purpose. As a Mechanic, you’ll play a critical role in the overhaul, repair, and assembly of advanced jet engines that power commercial and military aircraft around the world. Working in a hands‑on, team-driven environment, you’ll apply your mechanical expertise to ensure engines are restored to peak performance, safety, and reliability.
Shift1st Shift: Monday – Thursday 5:30 am – 4:00 pm
Responsibilities- Work as a member of a team responsible for turbine engine, engine module, or component maintenance in accordance with published work instructions and approved technical data.
- Utilize common hand tools as well as a wide variety of tooling and fixtures to assemble/disassemble and test a jet engine.
- Ensure all phases of assembly/disassembly as specified by work instructions, comply with required self‑inspection or peer inspection of critical processes ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Monitor and ensure processes meet Safety, Quality and Delivery objectives.
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- 1+ years’ experience in a mechanic role or appropriate technical training.
- Aviation engine overhaul and repair experience.
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License or Powerplant (P) Certificate.
- Hands‑on experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
Disassembly, Inspection, Assembly, or Turbine Engine Test Operations. - Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications and SAP.
