Position: Machining Working Lead - 2nd Shift (Onsite)

This posting describes a Machining Working Lead role within the Columbus Forge team, responsible for leading daily machining operations, providing technical guidance, troubleshooting manufacturing challenges, supporting continuous improvement, and mentoring the next generation of machinists while ensuring safety, quality, and production goals.

Job Summary

Join Pratt & Whitney's Columbus Forge team as a Machining Working Lead and play a key role in leading daily machining operations that support some of the world s most advanced aerospace products. You will combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities as a subject matter expert, supporting continuous improvement efforts and helping develop machinists while meeting safety, quality, and production goals.

Schedule

This is a 2nd Shift position, Monday - Thursday, 4:00pm-2:30am.

What You Will Do
  • Lead on the production floor by providing technical guidance, mentoring team members, and helping resolve machining and process-related issues.
  • Support daily manufacturing operations by completing production transactions, maintaining work-in-progress status, coordinating tools and supplies, and promoting a safe, organized work environment.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC and related machining equipment to produce high-quality aerospace components while meeting safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, work instructions, and precision measurements to ensure parts meet engineering specifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, basic equipment repairs, tooling adjustments, deburring, cleaning, and inspection activities to support reliable operations.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 6+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with Okuma and/or Fanuc controlled 4-Axis turning lathes
  • Previous experience leading, training, or mentoring manufacturing team members
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing systems (e.g., SAP or MRP)
  • Experience in aerospace, forging, or other precision manufacturing environments

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
