Your rolePosition Summary
The Process Operator I supports daily dry blend manufacturing at the Columbus, Georgia facility through material preparation, equipment setup and operation, blending, filling, packaging, cleaning, quality checks, and production documentation. This role helps establish safe, consistent, and compliant production capability while meeting GMP, food safety, quality, sanitation, and operational requirements.
The Process Operator I is responsible for safely operating dry blend processing and packaging equipment in accordance with established procedures. The position supports the production of finished goods that meet customer and company standards through accurate execution, documentation, cleaning, and in-process quality verification.
Essential Responsibilities- Review production schedules, work orders, batch records, formulas, and operating instructions before beginning assigned work.
- Prepare and verify raw materials, packaging components, labels, and equipment required for production.
- Set up, start, operate, monitor, and shut down dry blend processing, filling, and packaging equipment according to established procedures.
- Weigh, measure, add, and blend materials in the correct sequence while maintaining lot control and material traceability.
- Monitor operating conditions and process parameters and report deviations, unusual equipment conditions, or product concerns to supervision.
- Perform routine in-process quality checks and collect product samples as required.
- Complete batch records, production logs, material usage records, quality checks, and other documentation accurately and on time.
- Perform equipment changeovers and basic adjustments within established procedures.
- Clean and sanitize processing equipment, tools, utensils, and production areas according to sanitation requirements.
- Package, label, palletize, and transfer finished products as required.
- Follow allergen control, product segregation, foreign material prevention, and housekeeping requirements.
- Follow GMP, food safety, quality, sanitation, environmental, and company safety procedures at all times.
- Use required personal protective equipment and follow safe work practices, including lockout/tagout procedures when applicable and authorized.
- Report safety hazards, quality concerns, material discrepancies, equipment issues, and production delays promptly.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous improvement activities.
- Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout the workday and perform bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing as required.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely use production tools, equipment, and material handling devices required for the role.
- Ability to work in a dry blend manufacturing environment where dust, noise, varying temperatures, and required personal protective equipment may be present.
- 1st shift, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day.
- Overtime may be required based on business needs.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One or more years of production, machine operation, food manufacturing, dry blend, chemical, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, formulas, batch records, safety information, and equipment procedures.
- Basic math skills, including weighing, measuring, and verifying quantities.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic or written production records.
- Ability to work safely, maintain attention to detail, and follow quality and sanitation requirements.
