We are currently seeking a Full-Time Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our leadership team at GA Diagnostic & Classification State Prison (GDCP) in Jackson, GA.

This role is ideal for experienced nurse leaders who thrive in high-volume, structured environments and can maintain strong leadership presence in a fast-paced correctional intake facility. GDCP is the primary intake center for the state, requiring decisive leadership, operational control, and consistent execution.

Qualifications

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) provides operational oversight and direct supervision of nursing and support staff within a large, secure correctional facility. Reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON), the ADON ensures the consistent delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient nursing care across a high-volume intake environment.

This position requires a leader who can make decisions quickly, enforce expectations consistently, and maintain stability under pressure. The ADON plays a critical role in maintaining clinical operations, supporting staff performance, and ensuring adherence to all institutional and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support nursing and support staff within a secure correctional environment
  • Ensure delivery of care in compliance with Centurion policies, GDOC regulations, and security procedures
  • Maintain staff accountability, performance standards, and workflow efficiency
  • Collaborate with providers, mental health, and custody teams to support daily operations
  • Assist with staffing coordination, scheduling oversight, and coverage planning
  • Respond to clinical and operational issues in real time, ensuring continuity of care
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reporting
  • Reinforce safety, infection control, and institutional protocols consistently
Preferred Experience (Highly Valued)
  • Correctional, forensic, or secure behavioral health environment
  • Emergency Department (ER), ICU, or high-acuity leadership experience
  • Experience managing staff in fast-paced, high-volume settings
  • Strong background in compliance, audits, and policy-driven environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams independently and resolve issues without escalation
