The position focuses on providing fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. Associates learn about products using our tools, and provide information to customers to sell an entire project. They greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department, and know how to handle basics in adjacent departments. They maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas, ensure the area is clean, shop-able, and safe, and follow safety policies and standards.

Associates work with their Department Supervisor and other department staff. Specific store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

• Greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department
• Provide product information and guidance to help customers select appropriate solutions
• Learn about products using company tools and resources
• Maintain in-stock conditions for assigned areas and ensure cleanliness, shop-ability, and safety
• Follow all safety policies and training; correct hazards or report conditions to the Manager on Duty
• Work cooperatively with the Department Supervisor and colleagues across departments
• Support multiple departments as needed (e.g., Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, etc.)
