Responsibilities- Sales Leadership:
Drive sales, service, and customer experience initiatives in store to achieve sales, KPIs and other store performance goals. Ensure team completes assignments and is trained to deliver the customer experience. Articulate and communicate our vision, values, and priorities with our teams. Accountable for financial reporting, operational metrics, and store performance. - Customer Excellence:
Build relationships and drive ongoing customer satisfaction. Review customer ratings and act as needed. Focus on the customer experience, brand, and loyalty awareness by building relationships throughout the community. Protect employees and customers by maintaining a safe and clean store environment. Maintain cleanliness and well‑being of all livestock, animal care and feeding. - Operations and Talent Development:
Ensure brand standards and operational excellence. Manage expenses, loss prevention, and safety standards to support profitability. Manage inventory: place orders within budget, maintain inventory accuracy, and meet shrink goals. Manage labor hours to meet customer needs and comply with operational requirements. Execute all training plans, new‑hire checklists, sales techniques, and merchandising standards. Develop talent pipeline, supervise, coach, and perform performance management. - Business Insight:
Control and maximize DSOP through POS discounts, employee discounts, and damaged inventory. Review, analyze, and interpret profit and loss statements. Identify opportunities to improve and maximize bottom‑line profit. Plan and execute community events and partner with rescue agencies.
- Minimum 3‑5 years in a retail manager role or at least 1 year as a Store Manager.
- Experience working with and around animals.
- College degree is an asset.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays; accommodate rotating shifts (2 closing shifts per week, 1 full weekend per period).
- Must work a minimum of 45 hours per week and possess a valid driver’s license with access to a motor vehicle.
- Heavy lifting up to 55lbs multiple times per shift.
- Stand, move around, and perform inventory ordering.
- Active listening and observation required for customer and employee interactions.
- Work in a temperature‑stable environment; occasional solo work.
- Accidental injuries from pets possible; common injuries include slips/trips/falls and strains/sprains from lifting.
