Sr. Pub Safety Officer, Armed, Variable Shifts - Midtown

Overview:
Responsible for a variety of routine safety and emergency security activities while safeguarding students, employees, visitors, patients and property. Conducts Public Safety training and development programs. First responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility. Responsible for the safe de-escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects. Functions as an informal resource to colleagues, conducts training and on-boards for new employees.

• Perform routine safety and emergency security activities while safeguarding students, employees, visitors, patients and property.
• Conduct Public Safety training and development programs.
• Act as first responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility.
• Safely de-escalate critical events and exercise sound judgment when engaging with combative or escalating subjects.
• Serve as an informal resource to colleagues, conduct training, and onboard new employees.

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.

• 2 years in general security, military, or other public safety experience where you were actively required to carry a firearm in the regular course of duty, or
• Equivalence of training and job experience to demonstrate responsible handling of weapons and use of force.

• Valid Driver’s License (DL) and adherence to Piedmont’s Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy.
• IAHSS certification as a Security Officer within 1 year.
• Pass pre-employment psychological screening.
• Maintain all training requirements, including certifications in firearms, Taser, ASP baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed.
• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification preferred.
