Purpose
The C&M Crew Lead I is responsible for directing and overseeing crews engaged in general construction and maintenance activities on transmission and distribution systems and facilities. Performs such work by Company, Regulatory, and Safety procedures.
Accountabilities- All C&M Tech I responsibilities, plus leak investigation and repair
- Proficient at operating excavating equipment and critical valve inspection
- Direct the crew to completion of assigned duties
- Plan, direct, oversee, and participate in all activities associated with construction and maintenance work assignments
- Determine and organize crew and equipment requirements
- Secure necessary materials and tools for jobs
- Provide customer service regarding complaints and questions during new installations and repairs
- Advise customers of work that will be performed on their property
- Assess and coordinate delivery of training needs and assist in training and directing other employees
- Monitor and provide feedback to employees on job performance, disciplinary issues, operations, and team objectives
- May oversee, coordinate, and inspect the work of contractor crews to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations and Company standards
- Perform activities to ensure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies, including serving as a first responder to make area safe
- Complete and maintain accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements
- May be required to hold stand‑by duty
- Perform stand‑by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency callouts, and occasional extensive hours, and is subject to reporting outside the regular work area
- Identify, address, and report safety and encroachment issues to their resolution and completion
- Responsible for safely operating and inspecting assigned Company vehicles and equipment
- Demonstrate support for and adheres to the Company’s values, strategies, policies, and procedures and exhibits the core values of Liberty’s mission statement, customer service, safety, and the Company’s Code of Conduct as an individual contributor, team member, and leader of others
- Must become familiar with the contents of the Safety Manual, live the spirit of its intent, and become involved in creating and maintaining a safe working environment
- Must complete all required safety training in a timely manner
- Responsible for the safe operation inspection of assigned company vehicles and equipment
- Service and construction helper
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience- High School Diploma or a GED
- Proficiency in basic computer knowledge
- Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
- Must have and maintain minimum Operator Qualifications (OQs) and classroom training for the position
- Requires a valid driver’s license and an active Class A CDL
- Must have and maintain a Competent Person Certificate
- Required to have either tapping or welding
- Must obtain and maintain any other required OQs and classroom training or certifications before being placed in this role
Must be physically able to stoop, bend, crawl, walk, climb ladders, and lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs. Ability to occasionally ascend and descend stairs and ladders is required. Must also have keen senses of smell, hearing, vision, and color identification. Ability to work in all types of terrain and weather conditions is required.
