SUMMARY: Perform highly skilled work in the calibration and repair of industrial electrical/instrumentation and control systems operated by Columbus Water Works. Perform preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance on all instrumentation, data collection, data transmission, motor controls, and power distribution systems. Perform calibrations on various types of instrumentation devices. Plan and execute electrical construction projects in accordance with the NEC(National Electrical Code) and all other applicable codes.

Able to troubleshoot electronic systems, radio systems, SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, flow monitoring equipment, level sensors, pressure transmitters, PLC's and other instrumentation commonly used in water and wastewater industry. Enter time, materials, and pertinent data into MAXIMO work reporting software as work orders are completed. Occasionally works in confined spaces, high precarious places, and outside weather conditions. Perform related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Perform highly skilled work in the industrial plant maintenance of electrical components associated with water and wastewater equipment as directed and scheduled by the Managed Maintenance Department and Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Carry out job duties associated with the generation of work orders in the CMMS. Enter time, materials, and pertinent data into MAXIMO as work orders are completed.
  • Lead and supervise cross-functional work groups to perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment operated and maintained by Columbus Water Works.
  • Perform on the job training of subordinate workers in advanced electrical skills and maintenance practices.
  • Be cognizant of, and follow all applicable safety regulations as established by Columbus Water Works.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance to the NEC and all other applicable codes.
  • Read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics, power distribution one-line drawings, ladder logic diagrams, blueprints, operations and maintenance manuals, and other technical documents.
  • Perform the most advanced level of troubleshooting on complex electrical control systems, SCADA systems, radio systems, flow monitoring equipment, level sensors, pressure transmitters, PLC's and other instrumentation commonly used in water and wastewater industry.
  • Perform the most advanced level of troubleshooting on motors up to 1750 Hp and 4160 Volts, motor starters, medium voltage autotransformer and reactor type motor starters, high voltage switch gear, motor control circuits, electrical panels, motor control centers, and other electrical systems commonly used in water and wastewater industry.
  • Perform root cause analysis on repetitive and catastrophic failures of electrical equipment and systems.
  • Plan and execute electrical construction projects in accordance with the NEC and all other applicable codes. Create a material list for a new installation, run all conduit necessary, pull and terminate all wires, and install any needed panels, junction boxes, motors, outlets, breakers, and any other electrical components needed.
  • Able to select, install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain variable frequency drives of varying manufactures and sizes.
  • Able to correctly size, install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain AC generators of varying manufactures. Able to transport and maneuver trailer mounted emergency generators as well as select the correct voltage and phase configuration, and connect cables to a manual transfer switch, even in inclement weather.
  • Safely and expertly use test equipment to analyze and diagnose electrical components and systems, including but not limited to multi-meter, mega-ohm meter, amp meter, signal generator, Hart communicator, watt meter, rotation meter, and cable and antenna spectrum analyzer.
