Primary Function:
The job of HVAC Mechanic is done for the purpose of maintaining heating/air conditioning systems; identifying repair and/or replacement needs; providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment; and ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.

• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
• Educational Level: High School Diploma or GED preferred; job related education or technical college certificate/diploma in HVAC
• Certification/License:
  Valid EPA Type II license required;
  Valid Driver’s License
• Experience:
  
  Minimum three years HVAC experience or technical college certificate/diploma in HVAC

  Activities:
  
  Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; ability to work at heights using extension ladder, hydraulic lift or scaffolding; able to lift up to 30 lbs unassisted
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  Written and oral communication; knowledge of electrical codes, safety measures, and power requirements

• Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit.
• Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
• Diagnoses problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning/refrigeration systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and replacement needs.
• Installs heating/air conditioning/refrigeration equipment and systems for the purpose of providing comfort inside facilities.
• Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe, operating condition.
• Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
• Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Transports various items (e.g., tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
• Works on and repairs various systems (e.g., gauges, pumps, motors, chillers, etc.) for the purpose of restoring equipment to good working condition.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient, effective functioning of the work unit.
