About the role

Balfour Beatty Living Places is looking for a Traffic Management Operative to join our Lincolnshire team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, outdoor work and wants to play a key role in keeping the local highway network safe and operational.

Working as part of a dedicated highways team, you will support the delivery of temporary traffic management and highway maintenance activities across Lincolnshire. You'll help ensure works can be carried out safely and efficiently by installing, maintaining and removing traffic management systems, while also contributing to wider highway maintenance and winter service operations.

This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to work across different locations, support essential infrastructure services and develop your skills within a leading infrastructure business.

What you'll be doing
  • Installing, maintaining and removing temporary traffic management systems across the highway network.
  • Setting up and managing diversion routes to support maintenance and improvement works.
  • Supporting highway maintenance activities, including repairs, improvements and winter service operations.
  • Working safely and following all health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Ensuring vehicles, plant, equipment and personal protective equipment are maintained to a high standard.
  • Assisting with site documentation, vehicle records and compliance paperwork.
  • Working closely with supervisors, operatives and other teams to deliver work efficiently.
  • Communicating professionally with contractors, clients, emergency services and members of the public.
  • Accurately recording and updating work information using company systems.
  • Supporting the development of colleagues through sharing knowledge and best practice.
Who we're looking for

We're looking for a reliable and motivated team player with a positive attitude and a genuine interest in practical outdoor work. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be committed to safety and take pride in delivering high-quality work.

Essential Requirements
  • NHSS 12D M1/M2/M5 qualification.
  • CPC qualification (where required for licence holders of 7.5T vehicles and above).
  • Strong commitment to safe working practices.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with the public and clients.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A proactive approach to learning and developing new skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience within highways maintenance.
  • NVQ 6159 Winter Maintenance.
  • LGV Category C (HGV) licence and Driver Qualification Card (DQC).
  • SSSTS qualification.
  • NHSS 12D M6 qualification.
  • CSCS card.
