SUMMARY:

Utilizes knowledge of the CWW system, GIS, GPS, maps, and electronic line location devices to locate and then inspect sewer mains through the operation of a remote closed-circuit video camera system. Utilizes PACP or other specified standard method to properly record all encountered defects on video or accompanying software. Also performs smoke testing, dye testing, and flow monitoring to investigate sewer system problems and to determine sources of inflow and infiltration.

Performs heavy manual labor and operates required mechanical equipment. Exercises responsibility for upkeep and preventative maintenance of all equipment used by Team. Works under the supervision of Field Services Supervisor. However, much of the assigned work is performed with no direct supervision. Supervises one Data Technician I and is responsible for training him/her in the operation of all related equipment and software.

Attends all applicable seminars and training provided by CWW. In addition, all other functions and responsibilities as assigned.

Employee will be required to perform on-call duties on a rotating schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include, but are not limited to the following:

Locates line sections to be videoed.

Determines appropriate setup including proper traffic control and safety measures and insures proper confined space procedures are followed. Assists in positioning camera in sewer line.

Remotely controls video camera to properly record video inspection of sewer pipes. Utilizes PACP or other specified standard method to record defects.

As required, services, adjusts, disassembles, and makes minor repairs to camera, equipment, and attachments as needed. Stores and maintains all equipment in proper working order.

Communicates with supervisor to relay condition of sewer lines inspected. Prepares daily reports listing lines and length videoed, enters pertinent detail into computerized work order tracking system, labels videos, and stores videos in an organized manner for safe keeping. Uses Granite Software for Data Entry and Reporting.

Assists in conducting smoke tests and dye tests to determine location of needed sewer repairs.

Assists in installing and monitors flow devices in manholes to determine if excessive flow exists as an indication of needed sewer repairs.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES

Directly supervises one employee of the Data Collection Team and is responsible for training him/her in the operation of all related equipment and software.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to obtain Fort Benning Access required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school graduate or GED is the minimum requirement for position. Specialized training in relation to electronic and computer-based equipment is preferred. Wastewater collection system experience is required. Possession of a valid Drivers License and a clean driving record is required. Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program (PACP Certification) required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, maps, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions for electronic systems and procedures. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and record keeping.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to draw and read graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense to carryout instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
