Job Summary

The Lighting Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of indoor and outdoor lighting systems to ensure optimal functionality, safety, and compliance with industry standards. This role involves hands‑on work, troubleshooting, and customer interaction, requiring strong technical skills and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is safety‑focused, dependable, and capable of working in various environments, including elevated positions and inclement weather.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of lighting systems to identify issues and potential improvements.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including bulb replacement, fixture cleaning, and minor electrical repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning lighting fixtures, ballasts, and wiring.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and restore systems to proper working condition.
  • Replace outdated or faulty lighting components and assist with system upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment specifications.
  • Communicate with clients to understand lighting needs and provide excellent customer service.
  • Operate bucket trucks for elevated work (up to 40 ft).
  • Follow all company safety protocols and participate in safety training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Previous experience as a Lighting Technician or similar role preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, lighting components, and safety protocols.
  • Certification in electrical maintenance or related field is a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Must pass drug screening, alcohol test, background check, and MVR check.
  • Willingness to travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods in various locations.
  • Available to work overtime, including nights and weekends, as required.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks.
Working Conditions
  • Work performed outdoors and indoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
  • Exposure to electrical hazards, heavy equipment, and elevated work environments.
  • Frequent travel to various job sites with occasional overnight stays.
  • Work hours may vary depending on project requirements and emergency response situations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, climbing, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 40 ft using a bucket truck.
  • Use of hand and power tools involving substantial hand, wrist, and finger movement.
  • Must be able to wear and operate all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
