Software Engineer, Backend Developer
Platform Engineer III (Workday) – Remote, United States. Division:
Digital Services. Salary range: $88,000 - $140,000. Job posting expires July 31, 2026.
If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid: you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week and from home for the remaining portion. If you live more than 50 miles away, the role will be remote. Occasional office visits may be requested.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support on architectural design and maintenance of the platform’s (COTS, SaaS, ERP) environment with distributed components.
- Ensure compliance with organization requirements through implementation, auditing, and adherence to policies, procedures, and security standards.
- Plan software upgrades, patching, and plugin installations in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Monitor performance, resolve problems, and manage component capacity issues.
- Design, test, develop, configure, and maintain integrations to platform applications.
- Adhere to the platform’s security and coding standards for resilience, data, and security.
- Review business requirements to deploy the best solution, including configuring, coding, and debugging.
- Work closely with cross‑functional departments to communicate statuses and technical proposals.
- Deploy and configure platform applications tailored to company needs.
- Design technical solutions, configure/customize, test, and maintain platform applications to meet company requirements.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Extensive experience in software development and modern programming languages.
- Workday configuration experience.
- Leave management configuration experience in Workday.
- Workday consultant background.
- Workday Wellness implementation experience is a big plus.
- ADP or UKG experience is a big plus.
- Proven experience with Scrum and advanced Dev Ops methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead junior developers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Four or more years of experience in release practices and environments or related experience.
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education & Experience Preferred- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

The salary range for this role is $88,000 – $140,000. Compensation decisions consider education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation.
