Overview
The primary goal of the College Connection Coach is to support dual credit and dual enrollment students at high schools and career centers throughout the Columbus Service Area. This hybrid role is campus‑based and high school‑based, requiring regular travel to schools in the region.
Major Responsibilities- Travel to area high schools on a recurring, assigned schedule to support dual credit students, teachers, counselors, and other school staff.
- Advise dual credit and dual enrollment students on Ivy Tech course grades, progress toward credentials, and the application and registration process.
- Meet with or correspond with students and parents interested in Ivy Tech dual credit or dual enrollment opportunities, including special initiatives such as FERPA‑compliant outreach.
- Build relationships with dual credit students, educators, and school staff; represent Ivy Tech as a source of knowledge.
- Guide students and parents on course and degree options, the application and registration process, and available campus services (financial aid, scholarship resources, etc.).
- Utilize the Degree Completion Tracker to audit student progress and develop academic plans toward Ivy Tech credentials.
- Collaborate with high schools to sequence appropriate dual credit offerings based on school course schedules.
- Maintain credentialing knowledge for dual credit instructors and facilitate communication with program chairs and deans during the credentialing process.
- Connect students with support services in high schools, college, or community (admissions, financial aid, etc.).
- Maintain academic records in compliance with College policies and FERPA.
- Assist program chairs, deans, and dual credit instructors with tasks (syllabi submission, registration issues).
- Participate fully in school activities for students and parents (orientation, FAFSA workshops, career days, etc.).
- Attend Ivy Tech campus programs, dual credit/enrollment events, and related programs to support the Coach's role.
- Stay current with Ivy Tech academic programs, admission processes, higher education trends, and state education requirements.
$40,000 – $47,000
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree.
- One to three years of related work experience.
- Excellent communication and team‑building skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, make decisions, and provide leadership in a community college setting.
- Comfortable collaborating with diverse populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage complex partnerships.
- Proficient with computer applications and familiar with record systems (Excel, Google Drive, Banner, , Workday, Schedule Builder).
- Exceptional organizational and record‑keeping skills.
- Passion for student success.
- Master’s degree in education, counseling, student personnel, or a related field.
- Experience in teaching, counseling, advising, case management, or Individual Academic Plan development.
- Three to five years of experience in educational programming serving diverse student populations (secondary and/or postsecondary). Preferably K‑12 or high school experience.
- Knowledge of K‑12 or postsecondary instruction and counseling practices.
This position operates in a hybrid work environment, with a primary office at the Ivy Tech Columbus campus and frequent travel to high schools and career centers throughout the Columbus Service Area, including Bartholomew, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, and Shelby counties. Work may occur on college campuses, high schools, career centers, community event locations, and occasionally evenings or weekends to support student recruitment and orientation events.
Physical RequirementsAbility to travel extensively, sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment comfortably. Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Requires a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
