Position: Federal Work-Study - Aviation Technology

Work Study Position

Work study will assist in flight student progress administration, outreach, marketing development, dual credit/dual enrollment program outreach, and the creation of an FAA Part 141 approved Training Course Outline for ground coursework and Restricted Airline Transport Pilot school approval. If time permits, student will also develop plan of action for Aviation Accreditation Board International accreditation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in program administration and outreach functions.
  • Shadow program chair as time permits to understand day to day operation of the program and program growth opportunities with industry partners.
  • Help develop marketing initiatives.
  • Help write FAA Part 141 TCO authorization and Air Agency Certificate approval.
  • Build Restricted Airline Transport Pilot school approval request documentation and evidence.
  • Work with program chair to develop Aviation Accreditation Board International accrediting documents.
Qualifications:
  • Completed FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need
  • Maintain an aid-eligible Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status
  • Current AAS Pro Flight or AAS Aviation Management student
  • Student has successfully completed AVIT 132, AVIT 229, AVIT 135
  • Self-starter acquainted with FAA regulations and advisory circulars.
Internship Learning Outcomes and Objectives:

We expect the student to understand the roles of local aviation industry partners and gain first-hand marketing and outreach experience. The student will gain a deep understanding of the Air Agency approval process through the Indianapolis Flight Standards District Office. Though this process will be tailored toward a Training Course Outline for college, the process is the same for gaining Air Agency licenses for charter and commercial flight companies throughout the United States.

The student will meet industry professionals within aviation, government, and higher educations. The student will travel with the program chair to Aviation Indiana quarterly conferences (as long as the student's study schedule permits) to receive updates.
