C4 Automotive Education Teacher

Under the general supervision of the C4 Director, develop students' skills and competence in business and industry, technical skills, the use of technology, and the ability to problem solve in a wide variety of settings. Essential functions include developing and administering the Automotive Technology education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives; developing technology units to be delivered in the classroom or technology lab.

Teach skill and knowledge in mechanics, electronics, automotive diagnostics, automotive repair, and related fields. Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and utilize appropriate equipment for subject area; translate lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.

Design learning activities to demonstrate the application of technical skills to everyday existence; guide students in the selection of projects or experiments. Instruct students in the proper and safe use, care and storage of tools, machines and equipment. Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs;

conduct individual and small group instruction as needed. Maintain familiarity with district and Indiana State standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests. Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.

Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents. Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and lab. Coordinate with other professional Director of Technology, staff members, and others for the purpose of maximizing the uses and effectiveness of technology in student learning activities.

Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintain inventory records; ensure machines and equipment are in proper working order. Perform other related tasks as assigned by the C4 Director and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
