Functional Safety Systems Engineer
We have a project that the scope is the development and refinement of SysML models and related functional safety artifacts supporting ISO 26262 Concept Phase and System Level work products. This project supports execution of safety deliverables using model-based methods, including model content development, requirements traceability, safety analysis support, and preparation of review materials. The project includes automotive functional safety management activities by maintaining deliverable trackers, monitoring schedules and dependencies, identifying risks and blockers, coordinating inputs across teams, and reporting status to help ensure program execution remains on plan.

This project may include generation of safety analysis activities such as FMEA and FTA.

Experience with SOTIF-related concepts, Operational Design Domain, ODD, STPA, scenario analysis, or related hazard identification methods is desirable.

What you will be doing:
  • Support applicable ISO 26262 lifecycle activities for Concept Phase and System Level work products.
  • Be developed using SysML language and integrated into a modeling environment, Magic Cyber Systems Engineer.
  • Support requirements management and traceability using PTC Integrity RV&S and other customer approved tools as needed.
  • Be developed in alignment with the customer's modeling methodology, functional safety processes, and program direction.
  • Provide traceability across safety analysis, hazards, safety goals, functional safety requirements, system requirements, architecture elements, model elements, and verification evidence where applicable.
  • Support functional safety management visibility, including deliverable status, due dates, ownership, dependencies, risks, blockers, and open actions.
  • Be developed exclusively for our customer
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the following areas:
  • ISO 26262 Concept Phase and System Level lifecycle activities.
  • MBSE using SysML.
  • Magic Cyber Systems Engineer, Cameo Systems Modeler, or equivalent SysML modeling tools.
  • PTC Integrity RV&S or comparable requirements management tools.
  • Item definition, HARA, safety goals, Functional Safety Concept, system-level safety requirements, Technical Safety Concept, and related traceability.
  • Functional safety management support, including deliverable tracking, dependency tracking, action tracking, risk escalation, and status reporting.
  • Safety analysis methods such as FMEA, FTA, or comparable failure analysis techniques.
  • Safety-related systems, embedded controls, E/E systems, software-intensive systems, powertrain, electrification, or industrial product development.
  • Cross-functional coordination, technical communication, review facilitation, issue tracking, schedule tracking, and status reporting.

What you'll need to be successful:
  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering or other relevant technical discipline
  • ISO 26262 Concept Phase and System Level lifecycle activities.
  • MBSE using SysML.
  • Magic Cyber Systems Engineer, Cameo Systems Modeler, or equivalent SysML modeling tools.
  • PTC Integrity RV&S or comparable requirements management tools.
  • Item definition, HARA, safety goals, Functional Safety Concept, system-level safety requirements, Technical Safety Concept, and related traceability.
  • Functional safety management support, including deliverable tracking, dependency tracking, action tracking, risk escalation, and status reporting.
  • Safety analysis methods such as FMEA, FTA, or comparable failure analysis techniques.
  • Safety-related systems, embedded controls, E/E systems, software-intensive systems, powertrain, electrification, or industrial product development.
  • Cross-functional coordination, technical communication, review facilitation, issue tracking, schedule tracking, and status reporting.
  • Preferred experience includes SOTIF-related concepts, ODD, STPA, scenario analysis, model-based traceability, safety reviews or assessments, and Research and Technology or early-phase product development programs.
  • Good communicator – written and verbal
