We are seeking a highly motivated Powertrain Validation & Vehicle Systems Specialist to support the testing, troubleshooting, and validation of advanced vehicle and engine technologies. This position plays a critical role in helping engineering teams evaluate performance, investigate technical issues, validate software and hardware functionality, and ensure development vehicles meet quality and reliability expectations.
The ideal candidate combines mechanical aptitude, diagnostic expertise, strong documentation skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across engineering, technical, and customer-facing teams.
Responsibilities- Vehicle Diagnostics & Technical Investigation
- Provide hands-on support for development vehicles and powertrain systems, including mechanical, electrical, software, controls, and electronic components.
- Analyze and troubleshoot vehicle-level concerns affecting performance, drivability, functionality, and system integration.
- Apply structured diagnostic processes while leveraging engineering judgment to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Partner with technicians and engineering teams to investigate, isolate, and resolve issues efficiently.
- Support root-cause analysis efforts and recommend corrective actions.
- Validation & Development Testing
- Participate in vehicle validation programs designed to verify performance, durability, and functionality of new technologies.
- Utilize engineering software tools and calibration applications to support electronic control module (ECM) updates and software deployment activities.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret vehicle and engine performance data during validation exercises.
- Assist with test execution activities, including system overrides, data acquisition, and issue verification.
- Document validation findings and communicate results to key stakeholders.
- Issue Management & Resolution Tracking
- Maintain detailed records of technical investigations, corrective actions, and validation outcomes.
- Track issues from identification through resolution while ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Communicate status updates, findings, and recommendations to engineers, technicians, and project teams.
- Develop improved documentation and reporting methods when existing processes do not meet project requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, testing, and service teams to ensure efficient execution of development activities.
- Support communication between technical stakeholders by translating complex findings into actionable information.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance validation processes, issue tracking, and overall product quality.
- Demonstrated experience diagnosing and troubleshooting vehicle systems.
- Strong understanding of engine operation, powertrain systems, and vehicle electronics.
- Excellent technical problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating across diverse technical teams.
- Highly organized with the ability to maintain thorough and accurate documentation.
- Background as a heavy-duty technician, diesel technician, vehicle diagnostics specialist, service advisor, service writer, field service technician, or similar technical role.
- Experience supporting vehicle development, testing, validation, or engineering programs.
- Hands-on experience working with engines, electronic controls, and diagnostic tools.
- Exposure to corporate engineering, manufacturing, automotive, transportation, or industrial equipment environments.
- Experience utilizing software-based diagnostic and calibration tools.
- Curious and naturally investigative when solving technical challenges.
- Confident working in fast-paced development environments.
- Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Adaptable and resourceful when facing new or unfamiliar issues.
- Committed to delivering high-quality work while maintaining safety and operational standards.
- Full-time onsite position
