Controls System Engineer
Location:
Columbus, IN 47201 (100% On-site)
Duration: 12 months
Responsibilities- Develop and design control systems; develop and implement bench tests; alter software and equipment to ensure sensors and actuators function according to specifications; support and debug complex problems and change requests.
- Responsible for installation and technical support of PLC-based hardware and software, coaching and mentoring less experienced Controls Engineers.
- Support control activities for RMEP, CEP and CMEP plant transformation in the Assembly and/or Machining areas as needed.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to develop and improve processes and equipment.
- Work with equipment suppliers to drive programming, network, architecture, hardware and documentation standards for new equipment.
- Manage PLC, HMI, and MES programming changes; provide production support as needed.
- Rockwell Automation Control Logix system design experience, including motion, ladder logic, and safety programming.
- Proficient in Rockwell Software PLC Programming, Studio 5000.
- Proficient in Rockwell Software HMI Programming, Factory Talk View Studio.
- Experience with PLC hardware and communication protocols.
- 4–6 years of experience in PLC program development on Rockwell and Siemens platforms.
- Experience with machine safety systems.
- Knowledge of robotic systems:
Fanuc, Nachi. - Knowledge of vision systems:
Cognex, Keyence, Coherix. - Fanuc PMC ladder in CNC equipment.
- Siemens Step 7 or other PLC version experience.
- Function block and structured text programming.
