We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join our client's team in Columbus, Indiana. In this role, you will focus on analyzing, managing, and reporting financial data to support operational decision-making. This position offers an opportunity to apply your accounting expertise in a manufacturing environment while contributing to the company's financial accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze standard cost reports to monitor and improve financial performance.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis to identify trends and opportunities for cost optimization.
- Manage month-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliation of accounts.
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and recommendations on cost control.
- Review and verify the accuracy of financial data related to manufacturing operations.
- Develop and implement cost accounting procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Support audits and compliance efforts by providing necessary documentation and reports.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to align with organizational goals.
- Provide detailed financial reports to management to inform strategic decisions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in cost accounting.
- Preferred experience in manufacturing cost accounting and standard cost methodologies.
- Solid understanding of month-end close processes, journal entries, and general ledger management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct detailed cost analysis.
- Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
