Our client, a growing and well‑established construction and structural steel organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the company's accounting and financial operations. This position is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing financial reporting, job cost accounting, cash management, budgeting, lender reporting, and operational financial performance.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, structural steel, fabrication, or project‑based manufacturing environments and possess deep expertise in job costing, work‑in‑process (WIP) accounting, percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition, and financial management of complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all company accounting practices, prepare budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.

Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts; collaborate with President, COO and executive management on strategic growth plans.

Study, analyze and report on trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future company growth.

Direct the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns and regulatory filings.

Review reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures and suggest methods for improving the planning process.

Oversee investment of funds, manage associated risks, supervise cash management activities, execute capital‑raising strategies and support mergers and acquisitions.

Collaborate with the executive management team to develop and implement plans for operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel to accommodate rapid growth objectives.

Qualifications

CPA designation required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior‑level finance or accounting position.
Proven experience in the construction and steel industry is a must.
Proficiency in Vista ERP required.
Extensive experience with month‑end close processes.
Strong understanding of economic and banking processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate analyses.
