- The WOCN department, which stands for "Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses" department, is a specialized healthcare unit within a hospital or clinic dedicated to providing expert care for patients with wounds, ostomies (surgical openings in the body for waste elimination), and incontinence issues, focusing on assessment, treatment, education, and management of these conditions through a team of specially trained nurses known as WOCNs.
- The Wound Care Ostomy Registered Nurse is a member of the health care team who has primary responsibility and accountability for directing and administering patient care in the area of wound, ostomy, continence and related problems.
- Patient care is provided via facilitation, delegation and communication using the nursing process, functional health patterns, and holistic therapeutic modalities in collaboration with interdisciplinary health care team members.
- This position will round daily on all the wounds in-house and complete dressing changes and documentation. They will also educate on wound and ostomy care on a daily basis.
- The base hourly rate for this position is $35.12. Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience and does include shift differentials and premium pay as applicable. The hourly compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
- In this position you would work 4, 10-hour days, 7:30AM-5:30PM, with an on-call third weekend for emergency ostomy needs as requested by Surgeons; 45 min response time.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) required.
- Indiana Registered Nurse License or Multi-State Registered Nurse License through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) required.
- Certification in Wound Ostomy Continence from the Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Society required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
