Key Responsibilities
- Build, repair, and prepare articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment.
- Install test articles into test structures (test cell, table, rig, etc.).
- Perform tests in accordance with established test methods and procedures.
- Provide accurate and reliable test results.
- Configure and operate data acquisition systems; analyze and review data for appropriateness.
- Understand the function of test equipment and its contribution to the validity of test results.
- Understand the functioning of the product under test and assess its contribution to test validity.
- Perform test stand installation, troubleshooting, setups, and upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Support/recommend engineers for equipment supplier evaluation and qualification, equipment and facility updates, and instrument specifications.
- Conduct performance and reliability testing on multi‑ and single‑cylinder engines, components, systems, and controls.
- Diagnose engines, components, systems, controls, and test cell problems and initiate appropriate resolutions.
- Write computer programs to assist in analysis and data interpretation; configure engine test programs; interpret results; make necessary adjustments.
- Build, tear down, and inspect rigs, engines, and components.
- Grade and measure components.
- Create sketches for machining and fabricate necessary piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings.
- Install engines and instrumentation in test cells and rigs.
- Use common tools such as Calterm, Asset, Cyflex, etc.
- Design, document, and execute test plans; provide input during the creation of test plans; prepare test reports including findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Work with and train apprentices and technicians.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.
- Coordinate programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.
- Participate in maintenance of quality procedures.
- Lead and participate in improvement projects.
- Develop and give presentations to customers and suppliers.
- Know and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate confidentiality as required.
- Participate in self‑ and team audits and associated corrective actions.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as required.

- Test Setup and Configuration – Determines optimal location/orientation within test space and fabricates required systems.
- Test Article Build – Assembles test articles according to requirements.
- Preventative and Predictive Maintenance – Uses maintenance records/data to develop and execute strategies.
- Data Quality – Identifies, understands, and corrects data flaws for effective governance.
- Problem Solving – Solves problems using systematic analysis and industry standard methodologies.
- Values differences – Recognizes value of diverse perspectives and cultures.
High school diploma or GED is required. A two‑year associate degree or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM field may be required. Licensing for export controls or sanctions regulations may be required.
