MOBILE DIESEL TECHNICIAN LEVEL II

Cox Fleet, headquartered in Indianapolis, is one of the largest fleet maintenance companies in the country, providing on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers nationwide.
Work ScheduleDays: Monday through Friday
Hours: 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Key Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck components, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Inspects, tests, and listens to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation after repairs.
- Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and apply sound judgment.
- Manage parts inventory, reconcile supplies, and maintain the company‑issued service vehicle and truck equipment.
- Operate the service truck safely, conducting pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively with clients and customers to understand their needs and resolve issues.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time efficiently.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work on Repair Orders (RO) via company iOS devices, including photographs and parts used.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation accurately and promptly.
- Work independently, managing daily schedule and productivity.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management for repair approvals, purchase orders, and issue notes.
- Perform all work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety policies.
- High School Diploma or GED and at least three years of related experience (alternative combinations of education and experience are acceptable).
- Possess a set of hand tools required for job duties.
- Achieve Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
- Successfully complete and pass a DOT‐regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
- Maintain a current valid DOT medical card with at least four (4) months remaining, or obtain a DOT physical if less than four months.
- Be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver’s license to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- Safe driving record required.

- Apply logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches.
