Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on performing both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on plant equipment. You will diagnose and repair issues involving hydraulics, gear boxes, and 3-phase motors up to 480V, while also working with electrical components such as relays, proximity switches, and photo eyes. When not actively repairing equipment, you will perform preventative maintenance and use company-provided tools and resources to build your skills in troubleshooting robotics and advanced automation systems.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair on production equipment, including hydraulic systems, ball screw replacement, gear boxes, and rebuilding gear boxes.
  • Conduct electrical troubleshooting on plant equipment using a multimeter to diagnose issues with contacts, relays, proximity switches, photo eyes, and other control components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase motors up to 480V, including performing wiring, motor rebuilds, and ensuring proper operation of all motors utilized in the plant.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics to identify faults and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Use available tools and training resources to learn and improve skills in troubleshooting robotics and automated systems.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support continuous improvement and equipment reliability.
  • Work in a fast-paced, highly monitored production environment while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to identify root causes of equipment issues and implement long-term solutions.
  • Support shift operations by responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and prioritizing tasks based on production needs.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of industrial maintenance or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
  • At least 1 year of electrical troubleshooting experience on 3-phase motors up to 480V, including work with proximity switches, contacts, relays, and other motors.
  • At least 1 year of hydraulic troubleshooting experience.
  • Proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting, including working with hydraulics, ball screws, and gear boxes.
  • Ability to rebuild gear boxes and perform mechanical repairs on production machinery.
  • Ability to read and use a multimeter for electrical diagnostics.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical components such as relays, proximity switches, photo eyes, and other control devices.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and their application in machine repair and maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to diagnose issues quickly in a production environment.
  • Willingness to perform both corrective repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and adapt to training requirements.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of PLCs and ladder logic, or the ability to read inputs and outputs, is a plus.
  • Experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or automotive environment is beneficial.
  • Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical systems on complex machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability and safety.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, including robotics and advanced automation, using provided tools and training resources.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with maintenance and production teams.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
