Aquila Corporation is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Splicing Technician to support the installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of fiber optic networks.

This hands-on field position uses specialized fiber optic equipment to identify faults, verify fiber continuity and signal quality, diagnose network issues, and ensure completed work meets project specifications and Company standards.

• Install, splice, repair, and maintain fiber optic cables and related network components.
• Examine and replace faulty or aging fiber optic cable and support scheduled maintenance activities.
• Prep and splice fiber lines and troubleshoot fiber optic problem areas.
• Use specialized testing equipment to identify faults, verify fiber continuity, measure signal quality, and diagnose network issues.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation.
• Perform premises cabling and support underground and other fiber cabling requirements.
• Install and repair fiber lines in trenches and pedestals using appropriate hand tools and equipment.
• Assemble equipment according to design specifications.
• Maintain system records, designs, daily production paperwork, photographs, and accurate documentation of completed work.
• Perform basic daily maintenance of assigned Company vehicles, including fluid checks, cleanliness, and organization.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of fiber materials, tools, equipment, and supplies based on work assignments.
• Provide technical support for fiber optic construction, installation, activation, repair, and maintenance activities.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent required;
  Associate's or Bachelor's degree in telecommunications, fiber optics, electronics, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Fiber Technician, Fiber Splicer, or in a similar fiber optic telecommunications role preferred.
• Experience operating fiber optic testing and splicing equipment, including OTDRs, fusion splicers, optical testing equipment, computers, and specialized fiber tools.
• Knowledge of fiber optic cable, splice enclosures, network components, testing procedures, troubleshooting, and fiber optic construction practices.
• Valid driver's license required and ability to meet Company and insurance requirements for operating Company vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a field team while maintaining strong attention to quality, accuracy, and safety.
• Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with coworkers, homeowners, customers, contractors, and field personnel.
• Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds and handle splice enclosures, cables, tools, and telecommunications equipment.
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform detailed or repetitive tasks for extended periods.
