Job Title
Principal Embedded Software Engineer
Job Location305 Franklin Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201, and various unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S. Telecommuting permitted 2 days/week.
Responsibilities- Deliver innovative, flexible, and integrated solutions to meet automotive customers' changing requirements and business needs related to AUTOSAR and CAN communications.
- Coaching and training of entry‑level Embedded Software Engineers.
- Creation of process improvement and implementation plans.
- Leadership of embedded software projects and mentorship of junior Embedded Software Engineers to solve complex problems.
- Staying abreast of new technologies and competitor products.
- Application of quality assurance techniques.
- Compilation of data and definition of changes required in software and features.
- Conducting software vulnerability assessments of systems.
- Coordinating input from internal/external customers to understand needs and perceptions.
- Performing root cause analysis, error correction, functional and risk analysis of system‑level problems.
- Representing the development team in multi‑focused, cross‑functional meetings to architect and implement complex solutions.
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, electronics engineering, or related field.
- Six years of post‑bachelor's progression experience in engineering roles that includes implementing and verifying software pursuant to ISO 26262 safety standards; utilizing embedded C to implement AUTOSAR software architecture; configuring the AUTOSAR stack using tools such as Vector DaVinci Configurator or AUTOSAR Builder; handling communication protocols (CAN or LIN); employing testing tools (CANOE or CANalyzer); working with embedded operating systems (OSEK or RTOS);
debugging embedded software with debuggers and emulators; understanding microcontrollers and their architecture; and using version control and requirements management software (IBM RTC, Doors, SVN, Jama, Git Lab, or Clear Case). - Alternatively, a master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in the same fields combined with four years of experience in the above skill set.
