Cost Accountant (SG 23)

Summary:
This position performs a variety of cost accounting activities under minimal supervision to ensure timely and accurate product costing.
Job Functions / Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- Prepare timely, accurate, and meaningful reports, cost analyses, and cost factor recommendations.
- Ensure accurate cost standards are established and variances are properly recorded.
- Participate and support month-end closing and forecast activities.
- Prepare and analyze assigned cost accounting journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Provide key product cost data to top management on a monthly basis.
- Maintain product sales and cost of sales records.
- Analyze gross margins to ensure accurate product costing.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and assist with periodic inventories.
- Provide pertinent financial/accounting data to production managers.
- Perform internal control reviews and Sarbanes Oxley reviews as assigned.
- Participate in team oriented continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
Degree in accounting required. CPA/Masters preferred. 1+ years' experience, preferably in a manufacturing or related environment. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel required. SAP/ERP system experience preferred. Well organized with strong attention to detail. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Able to work with ambiguous tasks and handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
