Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry (Tenure-Track)

The Department of Natural Sciences and Environmental Health (NSEH) at Mississippi Valley State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Organic Chemistry, beginning August 11, 2025. We seek a dynamic and dedicated educator-scholar with a passion for undergraduate teaching, advising, research, and service.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate Organic Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis and other general courses such as General Chemistry and Survey of Physical Science.
• Develop and maintain an active research program in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field, with meaningful undergraduate student involvement.
• Serve as an academic advisor for undergraduate students in the NSEH department.
• Write and submit research and educational grant proposals to support scholarly and instructional activities.
• Contribute to departmental service, including committee participation and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
:

• A Ph.D. in Chemistry, with a focus in Organic Chemistry (or a closely related field), completed by the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.
• Evidence of ability to establish a research project involving undergraduates.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications
:

• Postdoctoral experience.
• Experience in teaching or developing chemistry courses.
• Commitment to mentoring a diverse student population.
• Potential to seek external funding for research or program development.
