Duties include:

* Design and submit a two-week interdisciplinary course aligned with the annual Mississippi Governor's School theme prior to consideration for employment.

* Facilitate a three-hour instructional course, Monday through Friday, throughout the duration of the residential program.

* Teach and actively engage 14-20 gifted high school students using interactive, discussion-based, and experiential instructional strategies.

* Supervise scholars during academic sessions, residential activities, and program-wide events as assigned.

* Participate fully in required seminars, recreational activities, and scheduled program components.

* Facilitate structured small-group learning experiences in approved and supervised program settings.

* Collaborate effectively with fellow faculty and program staff while exercising independent judgment and professional responsibility.

* Maintain full availability and active participation for the entire program period, including training and closing activities.

Based on documented 2026 applicant interests, preference will be given to course proposals in the following ranked preference areas:

Program Dates

Course instructors will be contracted from May 30 - June 13, 2026.

May 30, 2026, is a mandatory training day.

Applicants wishing to submit more than one course proposal may upload additional proposals in the "Applicant Documents" section of the application. Instructors with at least three years of Mississippi Governor's School teaching experience and strong performance evaluations may be eligible to teach two courses.

Minimum Qualifications

* Must be at least 21 years of age.

* Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

* Demonstrated ability to teach and engage gifted high school students in a structured, group-based learning environment.

* Experience facilitating interactive, discussion-based, or experiential learning preferred.

* Ability to work effectively within a residential program setting and adhere to all program schedules and supervision requirements.

* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage instructional planning and program responsibilities simultaneously.

* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

* Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a faculty team while exercising professional judgment and responsibility.

* Availability for the entire duration of the program, including mandatory training.
