Writing Center Consultants will primarily work six hours a week (two three-hour shifts) in the Writing Center located in Painter Hall. During that time, consultants will assist walk‑in students who might need help with essays and other papers. Consultants might help with grammar, development, documentation, and other writing‑related issues. When not addressing students in person, consultants will also be expected to respond to any online submissions regarding the same writing‑related problems.
Essential duties:
Assist students with writing‑related issues, both in person and online.
Hours of Availability:
The Writing Center is typically open from 10 AM to 5 PM on Monday through Thursday and 10 AM to Noon on Friday.
Background check:
Prior to hiring, the final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre‑employment background investigation. A prior conviction reported as a result of the background investigation does not automatically disqualify a candidate. However, failure to disclose may disqualify a candidate.
- At least a sophomore in standing.
- Passed both Comp I and II with at least a B in each course, preference for an
A. - Minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Familiarity with both MLA and APA documentation is preferred.
