Machine Control Modeler – 3D CAD Technician (Heavy Civil Construction)

Gregory Construction is seeking a highly skilled Machine Control Modeler to create accurate digital terrain models, excavation files, and GPS machine control data for our heavy civil projects. This position supports multiple job sites and requires strong technical ability, construction knowledge, and proficiency with CAD-based modeling tools.

Create and maintain 3D machine control models
, surface files, and survey data for GPS-guided construction equipment.

Build accurate surface models, alignments, and linework from civil plans, drawings, and engineering files.

Set up and update digital excavation files as project conditions change.

Review and read civil drawings, grading plans, utilities, profiles, and cross-section data.

Maintain current as-built files and ensure all revisions are accurately reflected in field models.

Work closely with project managers, survey teams, and field leaders to gather data and resolve issues.

Assist with GPS troubleshooting, calibration checks
, and equipment setup as needed.

Communicate GPS capabilities and limitations to superintendents and foremen.

Travel to job sites as required to support project teams.

3+ years of civil construction experience (Required)

3+ years of machine control experience (Required)

3+ years of AutoCAD experience (Required)

Experience with
surface modeling and building 3D construction models (Required)

Ability to read and understand civil drawings and convert them into usable digital data

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently

Willingness to travel to job sites

Experience with surveying or GPS rovers (Preferred)

High school diploma or GED preferred

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to adapt to changing project needs and workloads

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
