Controls Engineer – PLC/HMI Programming Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on designing, programming, commissioning, and validating industrial control systems, including PLC software development, HMI screen design, and system commissioning for a variety of industries and environments. The ideal candidate will bring a deep technical understanding of Siemens PLCs and HMI programming, along with the flexibility to adapt to other platforms as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and commission industrial control systems, including PLC programming and HMI design, tailored to meet diverse industrial requirements.
- Write, test, and debug PLC and HMI code on-site, ensuring smooth integration and system functionality.
- Conduct peripheral device programming and machine PLC programming to facilitate machine debug, power-up, and validation processes in collaboration with the build and electrical teams.
- Design and implement control systems in accordance with customer specifications and DyAG build standards using established techniques.
- Travel to customer sites to support system installation, startup, and commissioning, with a daily per diem of $68 provided.
Required
Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Controls Engineering and PLC/HMI programming.
- 3+ years of recent experience programming Siemens PLCs (Step7 or TIA Portal) and HMI screens.
- Proficiency with additional PLC platforms, such as Allen Bradley, Omron, Mitsubishi, or others, is advantageous.
- Capability to program/write code/ladder logic from scratch.
- Familiarity with hardware design using AutoCAD, Promise-E, or ePlan is a strong plus.
- Experience with automotive manufacturing integration and commissioning is highly desirable.
