Personal Financial Counselor, PFC- Columbus AFB, MS

Overview

Personal Financial Counselor role provides comprehensive financial services and counseling to military service members and their families at assigned installations.

• Deliver one‑on‑one financial counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals.
• Work with installation and branch POCs to ensure program scope and needs are met.
• Assist service members in developing spending plans for extended absences.
• Create and distribute informational financial materials.
• Coordinate, publicize, and lead Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering lifecycle events (arrival, deployment, career milestones).
• Provide age‑appropriate classes or seminars upon request.
• Utilize virtual counseling and secure electronic communication methods (web, chat, video) as authorized by the DoD.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership, participate in individual and group supervision, and report trends and issues.
• Engage in regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees, and other contract‑assigned activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree required (or associate degree with 4 years experience, or high‑school diploma with 6 years experience).
• Three or more years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizenship and fluent English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required.
• Ability to obtain a favorable Tier‑2 investigation clearance.
• Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold at least one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500 annually. Eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life, voluntary, and other benefits.
