Supply Technician

The primary purpose of this position is to provide supply operations support pertaining to specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage, or other items that are unique to the organization's mission or are seldom handled.

IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity. Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.

An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. The Lautenberg Amendment applies to convictions in civilian courts, general or special court- martial, and civilian criminal felony convictions. It is a felony for anyone with a qualifying conviction to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or am munitions, and prohibits sales or other dispositions of firearms and ammunition to such individuals.

IAW SA-2020-25 This position requires a physical/medical examination. The physical/medical requirements of this position as determined are: (Work requires some long periods of standing, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Supply Clerical and Technician Series 2005.

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions and an intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for urgent, critical shortage, and other special items.

Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE:

Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions. Knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system. Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material, such as supply regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve complex supply problems. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements.
